- This project allows to complete the proceedings to improve the safety and accessibility conditions of these facilities
- At the end of 2018, the building enclosure and a new validation line were put into service to limit passage to passengers only
The Generalitat has tendered for the construction of a new underpass and the installation of two lifts at Paiporta station of Metrovalencia.
The tender budget for the actions planned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) in Paiporta amounts to 999,919.07 euros, VAT included. The project includes the extension of the length of the platforms with a pedestrian route accessible for people with reduced mobility (PRM) to the access doors of the new lifts.
The two lifts, one per platform, shall have a capacity of 8 persons (630 kg) and shall be suitable for persons with reduced mobility (PRM).
The construction of stairs and an underpass is also planned, so that a new pedestrian route will be set up that will cross under the tracks between the two platforms, thus increasing the safety conditions of passengers passing from one side of the station to the other.
In addition, the necessary enclosures and pavements will be completed, video surveillance equipment will be installed, and canopies will be provided to protect users from bad weather.
These actions are included in the “Study on the situation of level crossings and crossings between platforms in the Metrovalencia network” prepared by FGV, which has made it possible to plan the works to be carried out on these and other stations in the network.
Previous measures at Paiporta
At the end of 2018, FGV already put into service a new access and validation line in this station, after investing 234,513.28 euros, VAT included. This action made it possible to fence off access to the station, so that passage is limited exclusively to metro passengers, which currently reduces the risk of any type of incident, as the passage of passers-by through the facilities is significantly restricted.
Paiporta is a station on the surface, through which trains of Metrovalencia Lines 1, 2 and 7 circulate, with a significant volume of passengers -more than one million a year-, as well as having a very high frequency of trains passing through on double tracks.
