Over 388,000 users, specifically 388,598, enjoyed public transport services for free provided by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) on the occasion of the European Car Free Day. This day, promoted by the Generalitat, marked the conclusion of various events held during the European Sustainable Mobility Week, promoted by the Regional Ministry of Environment, Water, Infrastructures and Territory.

On Friday 22 September, Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant services operated free of charge. According to accumulated data, Valencia’s metro and tram network recorded 327,544 trips, while in Alicante, TRAM services exceeded 61,054 journeys.

Regional Minister of Environment, Water, Infrastructures and Territory, Salomé Pradas, valued the “excellent results” of this open day that “allowed thousands of people from all over the Valencian Community to discover first hand and free of charge the advantages of using public transport.”

Salomé Pradas pointed out that “it was a great opportunity to give visibility to the importance of having a quality public transport network to promote balanced, functional, safe, universal and healthy mobility.”

It demonstrated the Generalitat’s commitment “to continue working on the implementation of a good public transport system that provides greater mobility options to our citizens.”
