- Volunteer staff from the public company carried out 620 hours of community service.
- Seventeen non-profit organizations benefited from the solidarity policy of the railway company’s Line 0.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) promoted a total of 44 community service initiatives in 2025 in collaboration with educational and social centers and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) at Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant facilities, as part of the public company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. Seventeen non profit organizations benefited from these community service initiatives, carried out through the so-called Line 0.
This activity, at no cost to FGV, was made possible largely thanks to the selfless work of the public company’s staff, who contributed 620 hours of community service, with the aim of raising awareness in Valencian society about the needs of the most disadvantaged groups.
These collaborations, through the holding of 532 information tables and World Days, 1 exhibition in a station, 320 vinyls on the TRAM d’Alacant units and 8 videos on digital screens in stations of the Metrovalencia network during the information campaigns, 2 educational visits for 59 students, the promotion of public transport with 1,200 titles and the messages on social networks, have made it possible to achieve greater sensitivity in Valencian society in favor of social entities and collaboration.
Blood donations deserve special mention, given that the usual campaigns held at the València Sud center with the collaboration of company staff could not take place due to the damage caused by the storm of October 29, 2024, to the facilities where they were carried out. Even so, FGV actively participated in blood drives organized by the Valencian Community Blood Transfusion Center in other locations, such as the summer blood donation marathon and the Christmas campaign, by offering free transport passes to donors.
With the aforementioned 620 hours of volunteer work by FGV and 13,200 hours by collaborating organizations, work has focused on health, responsible consumption, respect and integration for groups facing exclusion, public safety, support for women, the elderly, immigrants and refugees, education, and environmental protection.
Among the organizations given a voice on FGV are Doctors Without Borders, Doctors of the World, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages, the Valencian Community Volunteer Platform, the Valencian Community Blood Transfusion Center, Alcoholics Anonymous, the Valencian Community Cochlear Implant Association, Oxfam Intermón, Manos Unidas, the Oceanogràfic Foundation, and the Quera Association.
Of particular note is the exhibition on childhood violence held in April in the lobby of the Mislata Metrovalencia station, an exhibition that allowed attendees to identify with different forms of violence and connect with memories of their own childhoods.
Furthermore, the Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant facilities have been opened to visits from groups working towards the social and professional integration of their members. These groups include students from various institutes, schools, youth centers, and children’s centers, such as those from the Xabec Vocational Training Center and the Ramón Lluch Secondary School, thanks to the staff of the Naranjos and Machado workshops.
Finally, it is also worth highlighting the collaboration with the CEIP L’Horta school in Paiporta, which organized a charity market at the Xàtiva station to raise funds to renovate the playground of the temporary center where classes were being held due to the damage caused by the recent storms at the main school.
CSR and Line 0
FGV, as a public company, actively and voluntarily manages its Corporate Social Responsibility for economic, environmental, and social improvement. In the social sphere, it recognizes that its activity is ultimately geared towards serving the Valencian Community, respecting diversity and promoting the reduction of social inequalities.
Its stakeholders include its employees and the local community, with whom it carries out numerous activities; as well as NGOs, with whom FGV is always available and in continuous collaboration; and the Regional Ministries, in support of public health and foster care campaigns.
To this end, in 2005, FGV created a continuous rail line that, in this spirit, originates and ends within the community: Line 0. This Line 0 is an initiative that, like a metro or tram line, stems from the company’s responsibility to the society in which it operates and is directed toward the entire citizenry, fostering a forum for solidarity. This forum is designed to gather all initiatives arising from the community and, to the best of its ability, facilitate their implementation, promote their operation, and contribute to improving citizens’ quality of life.
Therefore, the provision of facilities by Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant for the presentation of these initiatives falls within their commitment to social responsibility.
