Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has awarded the Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant  (Alicante Metropolitan TRAM) low voltage power supply contract for the coming year for an amount of 484,000 Euros, VAT included.

Low voltage is used in the above ground stations (103 in Metrovalencia and 66 in the TRAM d’Alacant (Alicante Metropolitan TRAM)), in the La Marina offices in Alicante and in the urban area underground stations in the event of an emergency; that is, if there is a normal high voltage supply failure (35 in Metrovalencia and 3 in the TRAM d’Alacant (Alicante Metropolitan TRAM)).

Elsewhere, high voltage distribution is used for the traction (trains and trams traffic), the daily operations of the underground stations (35 in Metrovalencia and 3 in the TRAM d’Alacant (Alicante Metropolitan TRAM)), the workshops (South Valencia, Machado and Naranjos in Valencia and El Campello in Alicante) and the FGV head offices located in South Valencia. In 2017 Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana’s low and high voltage consumption was 1,755,000 kWh and 93,230,000 kWh respectively. The low and high voltage power distribution is 220 v and 20,000 v respectively.

Furthermore, the public company has put out to tender the new servicing and maintenance contract for the Metrovalencia underground stations’ low voltage electrical installations for an amount of 1,514,920 Euros, VAT included.
