Network expansion
After the commissioning of Line 10 (Alacant-Natzaret), the Generalitat is developing an extension plan for the Metrovalencia network, through the extension of Line 10 itself and the new lines 11 and 12
Among the outlined projects is the construction of the section that will connect Line 10 with the seafront and will operate under the name of Line 11, linking with the tram network Line 6 and 8 between the Grau-Canyamelar and Mediterrani stops.
In addition, the drafting of the project to extend Line 10 from the Natzaret stop to Grau de Valencia, linking up with the future Line 11, has been planned.
The construction of Line 12 will connect Line 10 with La Fe Hospital in Valencia. The new line will run along Hermanos Maristas Avenue and cross Ausiàs March Avenue, until it connects with Isla Cabrera street and continues along Vicent Marco Miranda street, before reaching Fernando Abril Martorell Avenue, where the hospital is located.
The extension of the maritime circuit will also involve a specific project to determine the connection of the Platja Les Arenes stop with the La Marina area along Eugènia Viñes street.
Valencia Metropolitan Mobility Plan (PMoMe)
The Valencia Metropolitan Mobility Plan (PMoMe) includes the building of another tunnel between the Bailén and Alameda Metrovalencia stations. This will convert the Alameda station into the central meeting point of the network’s lines, as well as allow a greater number of services to be provided and improve their frequency.
The extension of the Ribarroja line up to the municipality’s urban centre has also been proposed, as has the extension of the metro network to the western corridor of l’Horta, connecting the municipalities of Xirivella, Alaquàs, Aldaia and Barri del Crist.
In addition to the expansion of the metropolitan public transport network, the PMoMe has proposed a new metroTRAM system to bring efficient and massive public transport to the metropolitan points that clearly need an improved connection, positively impacting the already existing services in parallel.
The Plan includes creating and expanding existing parking facilities, especially on the Metrovalencia network, as well as improving parking management in urban areas, and developing and consolidating metropolitan intermodality points, encouraging and facilitating changes between modes of transport.
Frequency improvement plan
More than 200 million euros have been invested in the Metrovalencia Network Frequency Improvement Plan.
With this improvement programme, transport frequency will be increased on all sections of the network, in accordance with user demand. This set of actions allows consolidating the service offered by Metrovalencia as a real alternative to the use of private vehicles.
In order to make this improvement of the current transport service of the metro and tram network possible, more than 200 million euros will be allocated to new technical proceedings and the incorporation of new trams.
Of the aforementioned amount, more than 90 million euros will be invested in the metro lines to widen the single-track sections; increase the sidetracks and crossing points on different surface sections; eliminate level crossings; and modernise interlockings and train protection systems.
The investment in the tram network amounts to more than 127 million euros and includes the acquisition of new units; the extension of the tram circuit in the area of El Cabanyal-Canyamelar; the extension of the current platforms; the installation of new sidetracks and interlockings; and the modernisation of the tram protection and control systems.
Procedures will begin in 2022, so that Metrovalencia users will be able to see the first improvements in 2023.
