  • The public company is putting out to tender a new contract for a period of two years and a possible extension.
  • The contract includes customers, agents, facilities, rolling stock, stations, and other facilities.

The Valencian Regional Government Railways (FGV) has initiated the bidding process for the surveillance and protection services for customers, agents, facilities, rolling stock, stations, and other facilities of Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant.

This contract will fulfill FGV’s obligation to provide surveillance and security services, as the company lacks the necessary resources to fulfill the obligations established by the private security law. Therefore, it is necessary to hire a specialized company with its own resources to perform these functions in Valencia and Alicante.

The current contract expires on December 31, 2025. Once the extension expires, the bidding process will begin with a base amount of €40,939,310.02, excluding VAT, and a duration of two years with a possible extension for one more year.

The future contract award will address the constant increase in commuters on the Valencia Metro and Alicante Tramway, which directly impacts the increase in incidents and necessarily translates into a logical increase in the obligation to provide greater security and protection for workers, commuters, and facilities, and to comply with the collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

The contract is divided into four lots: surveillance of complexes, common services, trains, and trams of the Alicante Tramway in Alicante; surveillance of complexes and common services of the Valencia Metro; surveillance of Metrovalencia metro lines in Valencia; and surveillance of Metrovalencia tram lines in Valencia.
