Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana joins once again in the commemoration of March 8, International Women’s Day, a day of reflection and historical commemoration in the achievement of equal treatment and opportunities for women. Although today we have extensive legislation that guarantees formal equality, there is still a long way to go to achieve real equality in aspects such as the right to safety, not to be sexually assaulted or exploited or to be victims of gender violence, the right to equal pay, the need to balance the distribution of domestic tasks and the care of minors and dependents so that women have time for personal development, training and leisure, among many others.
FGV, in addition to joining the institutional campaign of the Generalitat, shows its commitment by carrying out its own actions these days, such as the dissemination of messages on displays, screens and other communication media with citizens, the switching on of violet lights at the Sergio Cardell and Holanda stations in Alicante, and those of Colón and Alameda in Valencia. We are also echoing this day of protest on social networks for the achievement of rights for women.
FGV is currently negotiating its 5th Equality Plan with the Legal Representation of Workers.
At FGV, half of the jobs are not held by women, the same as in the rest of the companies in the sector. Throughout the year and especially on this day, we encourage girls, women and young women to pursue studies that will enable them to access companies in the railway sector, because without the participation and talent of half the population no company is complete.
