  • In Valencia, there are 1,391 ticket vending machines, ticket offices, flaps, and validators, and 387 in Alicante.
  • Simultaneously, the access control equipment and accessibility of the ticket vending machines are being modernized. Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has awarded the maintenance contract for access systems and ticket vending machines on Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant for €12,799,990, including VAT.

The contract, divided into three lots, covers preventive and corrective maintenance of the fare collection system on the various FGV lines. The initial term is four years, renewable for up to one additional year.

Lot 1, covering TRAM d’Alacant, is valued at €2,968,130 (VAT included) and includes ticket vending machines, ticket offices, flap systems, validators, etc., located at stops, stations, technical rooms, and the El Campello workshops, as well as the equipment installed on the rolling stock.

Lot 2, encompassing Metrovalencia lines with INDRA technology and costing €7,574,600 (VAT included), also includes ticket vending machines, ticket offices, flap systems, validators, etc., located at stops and stations. Lot 3, also covering Metrovalencia, uses SICE technology and has a budget of €2,257,260 (VAT included).

FGV has 1,778 pieces of equipment included in this contract: 387 on the Alicante Tram network and 1,391 on the Metrovalencia network.

Equipment Modernization

In parallel with maintenance, FGV is carrying out projects to modernize this equipment through the 2026-2030 Action Plan, with an investment of over €830 million. This plan includes a section dedicated to improving stations and customer service, as well as other initiatives such as service enhancements, the renovation of older infrastructure and facilities, and the addition of new rolling stock.

The installation of new readers has recently been completed. Pending the adaptation of the toll collection software, these readers will allow validation with bank cards, QR codes, paper tickets, or mobile electronic devices.

Meanwhile, new access points have been added to the Colón and Paiporta Metrovalencia stations to improve passenger access, with particular attention to people with reduced mobility (PRM).

Also simultaneously, FGV has improved the accessibility of ticket vending machines across the Metrovalencia network and installed 188 units with a new video intercom and an inductive loop device that transforms the audio signal into a magnetic field that is picked up by the hearing aids in the “T” position.
